American Ninja Warrior

Craig was a national finalist in the USA competition “American Ninja Warrior”, as seen on TV’s NBC network.

The obstacle competition requires extreme training, focus, and courage.

From thousands of hopefuls, in 2017, he was one of the final standing competitors in the Las Vegas national finals.

Rock Climbing

Craig has tackled some of the most prolific technical rock climbs around the globe including El Capitan in Yosemite California, considered one of the most famous and most difficult climbs in the world.

He was born in the Rocky Mountain town of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Craig’s father Ron was an internationally accomplished mountaineer who taught him to climb when he was only 5 years old.

“My father named me Craig because “Craig” is the Gaelic word for ROCK!”

A Tale of Survival

In 2006, Craig Richard gained international attention after surviving a harrowing 18-hour self-rescue following a rock climbing accident. Climbing in the Black Canyon of western Colorado, he was training for the world’s most famous and challenging rock wall, El Capitan in Yosemite California.

During the climb, Craig suffered a devastating fall that shattered his right leg. Stranded deep in the canyon with no chance for help, he crawled for 3 miles through the night on his broken leg, enduring 18 hours of relentless struggle.

Undaunted by the accident, Craig resumed climbing with a cast on his leg. Exactly one year after the fall, he journeyed to Yosemite where after 4 days and 3 nights, he reached the 3,000-foot summit of El Capitan, fulfilling his life-long dream.

Craig's incredible story was featured on the Travel Channel’s TV show, “Got Home Alive”, where he portrayed himself in a reenactment of the ordeal. Today, Craig shares his inspiring journey of resilience and survival in presentations around the world.
